Position: Blogger

Time Commitment: Flexible schedule with the ability to work remotely as needed

Location: 1292 St. Clair Avenue West, Toronto, ON M6E 1C1  

Position Summary:

The blogger will work as part of team of Marketing, Events and Social Media volunteers.

Tasks and Responsibilities: 

  • Research and write articles for blogs in a conversational style, which engages readers and attracts traffic to After Breast Cancer
  • Proofread to produce high quality blog content and ensure links are up to date
  • Respond promptly to blog comments and email
  • Work with graphic designer to create a consistent visual image on blog including maintenance of layout templates and image archives
  • Assess new standards, technologies and trends, and formulate plans for future enhancement to blogging strategies
  • Use latest syndication and blogging tools with HTML, when appropriate
  • Report on metrics of traffic statistics, and blog comment feedback areas to the Executive Director
  • Share creative ideas to the Marketing Department
  • Participate in scheduled after BREAST CANCER events

Qualifications: 

  • Education in English, Journalism, Business Administration, or equivalent field of study
  • Excellent writing skills, with a natural ability to write simply in a conversational style
  • Eye for detail in proofreading and text and graphics layout
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Work well in a fast-paced time sensitive environment
  • Passion for making a difference and helping other

Start Date:  Immediately

Term:  Interns MUST work minimum of 20 hours a week or more 

Remuneration:   Transportation costs to and from (public transit or parking)

  • To provide resources that contribute to a woman’s Quality of Life (QOL) after breast cancer.
  • To provide women with limited financial resources and NO insurance with mastectomy bras, mastectomy camisoles, and breast prostheses at no cost to them after breast removal surgery (mastectomy or lumpectomy).
  • To identify underserved areas in breast cancer survivorship that lack resources and provide evidence-based information that can facilitate informed decision-making on issues related to breast cancer survivorship.
