Position: Paralegal Assistant 

Time Commitment: Flexible schedule with the ability to work remotely as needed

Location: 1292 St. Clair Avenue West, Toronto, ON M6E 1C1  

Position Summary:

The Paralegal Assistant will be responsible to handle, organize and manage files, documents, and create SOP’s. Perform activities along with experienced legal practitioners to register trademarks, patents, copyrights and getting it approved by the legal authority within a specific span of time. Conduct research and assist in drafting legal correspondence and documents,  MOU`s and agreements with our strategic partners.

Tasks and Responsibilities: 

  • Create SOPs, and prepare necessary documents needed for registering charity.
  • Collecting efficient information regarding  trademarks.
  • Monitor changes to laws, guidelines, or regulations; submit reports on pertinent changes in law.
  • Reviewing and updating legal documents regularly based on the changes in law.
  • Utilize existing files and other legal research resources to develop information for pending documents.
  • Draft and update legal documents, agreements, letters of intents, funding proposals, MoU`s, etc..
  • Create and assemble proposal packages with attachments and follow up with strategic partners.
  • Review contracts, agreements and proposals and provide feedback to the executive team.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications: 

  • Associate’s degree in paralegal studies required; bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Proven skills in Microsoft Office products 
  • Strong Interpersonal communication and organization skills
  • Detail oriented with problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to interact with donors, volunteers and staff, etc.
  • Work well in a fast-paced time sensitive environment.
  • Excellent English communication skills.
  • Must have excellent writing skills and the ability to produce and/or edit documents.
  • Passion for making a difference and helping others.

Start Date:  Immediately

Term:  Interns MUST work minimum 20 hours a week or more 

Remuneration:   Transportation costs to and from (public transit or parking)
